The Paris Rogues

In the summer of 2023, Michael C. Parris and Peter Rogan were attending Phil Madeira's Mercyland song writing retreat in Hot Springs, NC. The duo had met at the same retreat two years earlier. They realized that they had written a fair number of songs together by that time and decided to make a full length album comprised of their songs. In September of 2023 they started putting song arrangement ideas together and planning the song list. The recording commenced at Peter Rogan's home studio in October and has been going steady up until now. The album consists of a full band including Josh Kanusky from David Bromberg's Band on drums, Phil Madeira from Emmylou Harris's Band on keys, Will Kimbrough also from Emmylou's band on slide guitar, Ron Stabinsky from the Meat Puppets on keys also, and sharing bass duties with Peter Rogan is Steve Varner, former bassist with Pat Martino and many others.

The album features ten songs all composed by Parris and Rogan with varying co-writers. It was decided that this band should have a name, and from the quick witted Will Kimbrough came "The Paris Rogues"

The title of this album will be "Live and Learn", inspired by the song of the same name which was written in 2021 at said Mercyland camp with Max Berueffy as co-writer.

With the album's mastering now finished, the duo is having a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the completion of the production, print CDs and vinyl for distribution and also hire a publicist to promote the record nationwide. The unique qualities of folk, rock, jazz, and blues that Michael and Peter each bring to this project creates a sound that is fresh and deserves to be heard.
